Early Intervention

Early Intervention is a comprehensive interagency program that supports infants and children with developmental delays in their efforts to realize their full potential. It reduces the likelihood of delays among at-risk children, assists and empowers families to meet their child’s and their own needs, and entitles children, regardless of race, ethnicity or income, to services through the program.

We offer center-based therapeutic services to children eligible for the Early Intervention Program. Services are provided in our fully equipped Center. All services are provided by our New York State licensed, certified professionals.

The Early Intervention Program (EIP) in New York City supports children from birth to 3 years with developmental delays. It collaborates with families to set goals and create service plans at no cost, regardless of income or immigration status. Eligibility requires living in NYC, being under three years old, and undergoing evaluation. Referrals can be made by calling 311 or contacting regional offices. Once children turn three, they may qualify for preschool special education. Additional resources include developmental monitoring for younger children and health insurance assistance. For more information, families can visit the EIP website or contact the Office of Consumer Affairs.

The Early Intervention Program helps young children (birth to 3 years) who are not learning, playing, growing, talking or walking like other children their age. The program works with your family to set meaningful goals for your child and create a service plan to help your child and your family meet those goals.
